WRC Safari Rally 2024, Lauded as huge success.

President William Ruto on Sunday, March 31, 2024, presided over the closing ceremony of the 2024 World Rally Championship (WRC).

Ruto was flanked by Sports and Youth Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ababu Namwamba among other senior government officials during the closing ceremony held at Hell’s Gate in Naivasha.

During the event, Ruto awarded the top three winners of the three-day rally including Kalle Rovanpera of Toyota Gazoo who emerged as top.

The Head of State also hailed the event and invited the private sector to play a greater role in the management of the rally and explore untapped opportunities to make such events magical.

“We invite the private sector to play a greater role in the management of the WRC Safari Rally and explore untapped opportunities. This will not only ensure that the event is cost-effective but also enhance the overall experience, making it truly magical,” Ruto said.

The much-anticipated rally attracted thousands of spectators from across the country. As of Friday, fans had already flocked to the lakeside town of Naivasha ready to witness action and unwind from a busy work week.

The attendance was a boost to businesses such as eateries and accommodations across Nakuru county.

The event featured a lineup of 9 entries consisting of top contenders worldwide.

Ruto flagged off the event at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Speaking during the flag-off, Ruto who was accompanied by Sports and Youths Affairs Cabinet Secretary Namwamba lauded this year’s rally and termed it as a rewarding and beautiful event for the Easter holidays.
